Chad Stevens of MediaStorm, what many consider the leaders in documentary multimedia production, recently released this piece on mountain top removal coal mining in West Virginia.

For those of us on the opposite coast, in Washington State, our electricity comes mostly from hydropower and natural gas, but the mining done in West Virginia has economic and environmental impacts we should understand. If you don’t have time at work, watch it over morning coffee or on your laptop in bed at night.

There are many, many issues out there today, but committing to this 20 minutes is part of an awareness we need to have as responsible global citizens. (and…I know it’s destructive but some of the mining blasts or “shots” are really impressive. as are the aerials of the landscape.)
